Game 1: Rushall Village vs DMC Benfica The first game of the day was a closely contested battle against DMC Benfica. Both teams showed real determination, with strong tackles and disciplined defending throughout the first half. It was an even contest, and our players matched the intensity from the first whistle.

A miscommunication at the back gave DMC an early advantage, but our response was full of character. We created several attacking chances and pushed forward with purpose, testing their defence time and again. Credit to DMC for staying compact and making it difficult for us to find a breakthrough.

Late in the game, as we committed players forward in search of an equaliser, DMC found space and added two more goals. Despite the result, it was a strong performance from our team, who showed resilience, effort, and a willingness to keep fighting until the final whistle.

Game 2: Rushall Village vs NPV The second match was always going to be a challenge, with NPV coming in off the back of a big win the previous week. Rushall Village rose to the occasion with one of the most impressive performances we’ve seen from the U7s.

Early in the first half, the team strung together a beautiful sequence of passes before Joey calmly finished a move that will be remembered as one of our best team goals to date. The confidence and composure on display were outstanding.

Controversy followed shortly after when Bligh was brought down in a heavy challenge. Despite clear signs of injury, play continued and NPV scored while half the players had stopped. The goal stood, but it didn’t dampen our spirit. That first half was arguably the finest football this group has ever played.

The second half was packed with drama and passion. Chester stepped up with a stunning free kick to restore our lead, only for NPV to level again with a deflected effort. Rushall kept pushing. Chester intercepted a loose ball at halfway, took one touch, and fired home a brilliant solo goal to put us back in front.

In the final seconds, NPV managed to equalise with the last kick of the game. It was a tough one to take, especially given the earlier controversy, but the performance from every player was nothing short of exceptional.

Parents’ Player of the Match: Bligh For showing incredible bravery and determination, never backing down despite taking some heavy knocks. A true team player.

Manager’s Player of the Match: Joey For covering every blade of grass, creating chances, battling in midfield, supporting the defence, and scoring his first goal of the season. A complete performance.

Coaches’ Comments The team showed fantastic progress and togetherness throughout the morning. The performance against NPV was a standout moment and our best football yet. Every player should be proud of their effort, attitude, and teamwork.

Well done, Rushall Village U7s. Brilliant football, big hearts, and a weekend full of pride.
