🚜 Major Milestones Achieved
We’re thrilled to share that our club has now secured a combined total of £70,000 in grants and fundraising, a phenomenal achievement made possible by the unwavering support of our community. These funds are already being put to good use, and we’ve kickstarted several key infrastructure projects at Abbey Park:
- Stump Removal & Drainage Prep: This week saw tree surgeons on-site, removing all stumps in and around the playing area. With the ground cleared, we’re now preparing for the critical installation of a professional pitch drainage system to support year-round play.
- Enhanced Security with New Fencing: We’ve commissioned Bridle Security Fencing to install a secure perimeter fence and gate. This will not only protect the site but also enable us to safely store club equipment on-site in the near future.
- Pitch Redevelopment Plans in Motion: Specialist contractors have provided quotes for the removal and full renovation of the playing surface. This essential upgrade is designed to deliver a top-tier pitch in time for the 2026/27 season, giving our players the quality they deserve.
- Toilet Facilities Delivered: We’ve also welcomed the delivery of a donated male and female toilet block, complete with cubicles and urinals. It’s been freshly painted and prepped, awaiting permanent installation once our concrete foundations are in place.
🛠 Our Current To-Do List
While the heavy lifting has begun, we still need helping hands to tick off several important tasks and keep momentum going:
- ⚡ Electrician: To install our main electricity lines
- 🚰 Plumber: To trace the water line and locate the stop tap
- 🎨 Painters: We’ve got lots of surfaces eager for a fresh coat!
- 🌿 Ground Maintenance: Strimming and gardening around the pitch area
