Wednesbury Town
A really tricky morning against a strong Wednesbury side who love pumping long balls over the top. With no recognised keeper available, one of our regular defenders bravely stepped between the posts, which meant someone else had to fill in at the back who isn’t used to the role. Despite that, the boys stuck to our passing style brilliantly and created some lovely moves. We were really unlucky not to take something from the game, only conceding from one defensive mix-up right at the end. Heads held high – massive effort!

Hednesford Town
The second game was even more open and end-to-end. We were properly warmed up now and flying! Once again we were without a keeper, so we lost our creative midfielder (who normally bosses the centre of the park) to the gloves – leaving us a bit light in midfield. Hednesford took full advantage and nicked the first goal.

But our lads showed fantastic character! Nath was like lightning, pressing high and winning the ball back before calmly slotting us level. Minutes later we broke at speed down the right, a clever cut-back was only parried by their keeper and Szymon was on hand to smash home a brilliant finish and put us ahead! The boys were buzzing.

Right at the death a scramble in our box saw Hednesford snatch an equaliser, but we nearly held on for a huge win after being behind.

Overall
Two really positive performances full of fight, quick passing and some brilliant individual moments. The only thing holding us back at the minute is not having a regular goalkeeper – it’s forcing us to shuffle the whole team around every week.

We’re still looking for a keeper! If your child (or someone you know) fancies giving the gloves a go at U10 level, please drop us a message. You’d be made very welcome!

Huge well done to every single player today – proper pride in the shirt!
