It was a tough morning for the U11s with very strong winds and an early kick-off. We were also missing a couple of players, so the lads who stepped up did really well.
We created quite a few chances in the first half and played some good football, especially getting the ball out wide and creating opportunities in the final third. However, we just couldn’t find the breakthrough and struggled at times to keep our shape in midfield.
Early in the second half the opposition were gifted a goal, helped by the strong wind, and shortly afterwards George picked up a chest injury which forced us to make a formation change.
The new shape actually improved our link-up play higher up the pitch. We pushed hard and came very close to equalising right at the end, but it just wasn’t to be.
Overall it was a fairly good performance from the boys, especially with a few missing and the difficult conditions. We lost 1-0 to FC Premier.
Parents’ Player of the Match – Keason
Keason had a fantastic first half in goal. He was confident on and off the ball, played out from the back well, and hit some big goal kicks to get us up the pitch. After George’s injury he had to go back in goal for the last 20 minutes and pulled off some excellent saves. A really strong performance all round.
Manager’s Player of the Match – Foden
Foden was excellent all game. He worked tirelessly on both wings, tracked back brilliantly and was a real workhorse all over the pitch. He also adapted well to a new role in the last 15 minutes. Great effort throughout.
Well done to all the lads who put in a good shift today.
