Two Excellent Wins for the U11s π§‘π€
Another really positive day for our U11s, with the boys coming away with two excellent wins from two competitive games.
Both matches were closely fought, and the players had to show plenty of character, concentration and determination to get over the line on both occasions.
Most importantly, they continued to work for each other and showed the resilience that has become such an important part of this group.
π Game One
Our first game was a really competitive contest from the beginning.
The boys started brightly and looked confident in possession, creating opportunities and putting the opposition under pressure.
We managed to get ourselves in front and continued to work hard to protect our advantage.
The opposition were awarded a penalty during the game, despite there being some debate over the location of the incident, but the lads didn’t allow that to distract them.
Instead, they stayed focused on what they could control.
We continued to defend as a team, battled for every ball and looked dangerous when we moved the ball forward.
The boys showed good composure during the closing stages, managing the game well and seeing out a narrow victory.
A really good performance and an excellent way to start the day.
A fantastic debut for Heath.
Having only been with the team for around two weeks, it would have been completely understandable for him to need some time to settle in.
Instead, he looked like he’d been part of the group for much longer.
Heath worked hard throughout, played with confidence and made a real contribution to the team’s performance, including an excellent assist.
He fitted into the group brilliantly and showed exactly what he can bring to this squad.
π Game Two
The second game brought another tough challenge.
Once again, the boys had to work hard for everything and were involved in another very close contest.
We took the lead and showed some really good moments of football, particularly when we moved the ball quickly and supported each other going forward.
The opposition continued to push for an equaliser, meaning we had to remain switched on and disciplined without the ball.
There were a few unusual moments during the game, including the opposition scoring directly from a kick-in from the sideline, despite the ball not touching another player.
Rather than allowing situations like that to distract them, our players simply got on with the game.
That was a real positive.
The opposition goalkeeper also came outside his area and handled the ball, creating another moment of confusion, but again our players stayed focused on the football and continued to compete.
As the game entered its final stages, the boys showed excellent determination.
They defended together, fought for every loose ball and continued to look for opportunities to put the game beyond doubt.
Eventually, the final whistle confirmed another narrow victory.
Two games. Two wins.
π Final Thoughts
What we’re particularly pleased with today is the way the boys handled two tight games.
Neither match was easy.
Both required concentration, discipline and a willingness to keep working right until the final whistle.
There were moments where things didn’t go exactly as expected, but the players didn’t allow that to affect their attitude or thei
