A frustrating afternoon for the U11s. We started brightly, creating several good chances and deservedly taking an early lead with a well-worked goal. For a while it looked promising, but unfortunately we couldn’t maintain the intensity and dropped into second gear.
The second half was very disappointing — sloppy, disjointed, and too much ping-pong football with very little flow or control. Two individual errors cost us dearly, and we went from leading to chasing the game. Against a team that wasn’t the strongest, we unfortunately dropped down to their level rather than imposing our own style. It wasn’t the football I know this group is capable of.
There were still some positives to take from the game, particularly in patches of good play and individual efforts, but overall it’s one to forget. The midweek fixture probably played a part in the flat performance. The boys now have a well-deserved break this week with no midweek game, which should allow them to regroup, refocus, and come back stronger.
Parents Player: George ✅ Excellent all-round performance and showed great adaptability in the later stages when asked to play in a new position, picking out some really intelligent passes.
Managers Player: Joint winners — Mason & Logan P ⚽️ Both had some strong moments and showed flashes of real quality.
A good learning opportunity for the whole squad. We need to get back to playing for each other as a team rather than relying on individual performances. Lessons learned — we go again next week!
