🦁💙 MATCHDAY UPDATE – PROUD IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT! 💙🦁
Honestly, we couldn’t be prouder of this team today.
Everything we’ve been working on in training was taken into the games and put into practice. The work rate for each other was excellent, the passing and movement were much improved, and playing with a higher, more aggressive defensive line really paid off.
⚽ Game 1 – Walsall Phoenix
The scoreline really didn’t reflect the game or the performance from our Lions.
What impressed us most was the reaction when we went behind. Heads didn’t drop. They kept battling, kept working for each other and continued to play the football we’ve been asking them to play.
The boys pushed hard right until the end and were really unlucky not to get the equaliser during a period where they were putting the opposition under huge pressure.
⚽ Goals – Arthur & Oliver
Despite the result, the performance gave us so much confidence going into our second game.
⚽ Game 2 – Holy Name
Before the game, there was plenty of confidence coming from the opposition about how easy the game was going to be and how they were going to beat us.
Our Lions decided to do their talking on the pitch. 🦁
They performed exactly how we know they can.
They battled for one another from the first whistle to the last, worked incredibly hard, stayed organised and continued to play football.
And most importantly, they got the result their performance deserved.
🎉🦁 OUR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON! 🦁🎉
We could easily have had a few more goals too, but it just wasn’t quite falling for us. That didn’t matter, though — the boys had done the hard work and showed exactly what they’re capable of.
⚽ Goal – Arthur
Choosing the Manager’s Player this week was incredibly difficult because it genuinely could have gone to any one of them.
Every single player contributed.
Every single player worked for the team.
That’s what we want to see.
🦁 True Lion spirit. 🦁
🏆 Manager’s Player – Vinny
🏆 Parents’ Player – Arthur
A massive well done to the entire team today.
Keep listening.
Keep learning.
Keep working for each other.
The boys are beginning to see that when they trust each other and put into games what we work on in training, good things happen.
🦁🦁 COME ON LIONS! 🦁🦁
First win of the season on the board. ✅
Now onto the next challenge! 💙⚽
