π¦ MATCHDAY UPDATE π¦
A tough start to our first games, but so many positives to take away from today.
We started the first game a little slowly and were punished with four absolute screamers in quick succession. But what impressed us most was the response. The Lions never gave up, kept battling and were much better in the second half, holding our opposition for long periods before being punished when we switched off. The game finished 6β0.
Afterwards, their manager made a point of saying how impressed he was that our players never stopped or gave up. He also explained that his team play in the A League and won two trophy events last season β so we certainly came up against a very strong side!
We had a good gap before our second game, which gave us the chance for a proper team talk and to reset.
And what a difference. π
We passed the ball much better, got stuck into our challenges and started to show much more of what we know this team is capable of. The 5β1 scoreline really didn’t reflect the game or the performance.
With training numbers being quite low recently, several new players joining the team and everyone still learning how to play together, our first games were always going to be challenging.
But there was plenty to be proud of today. π§‘π§‘
The effort was there.
The attitude was there.
Nobody gave up.
And, most importantly, we improved as the games went on.
We’ll keep working hard at training, keep learning and keep moving forward together. Once we’re playing opposition at the right level for where we are as a developing team, it will make a massive difference.
β POTM β Oliver F
β½ Goal β Arthur
Results don’t define this team β development, effort, enjoyment and belonging do.
We go again, Lions! π¦π¦
