What a fantastic morning for the U10s! In the first game the boys were absolutely superb from start to finish. They held their shape brilliantly, supported each other all over the pitch and showed real togetherness as a team. A tactical change midway through the half worked a treat; it allowed us to build attacks patiently from the back, press high with real intensity and create some lovely passing moves. The finishing was clinical when the chances came along and every single player gave everything they had. You could see the effort in every challenge and every sprint – they left nothing out there.
By the second game a few of the lads were understandably running on empty after going so hard in the opener, but even then they still produced some excellent spells of football. There were moments of real quality, clever link-up play and some brave defending when the opposition pushed forward. The progress these boys have made over recent weeks is clear for everyone to see – they’re starting to understand when to press, when to drop and how to combine with each other.
Once we get a settled goalkeeper back in the side and stop having to rotate so much, the partnerships across the team are only going to get stronger. The work rate today was outstanding and the way certain players are beginning to read each other’s movements is really exciting. There’s a genuine togetherness in this group and some proper talent starting to shine through.
Huge credit to every single one of them – they’re a pleasure to work with and a great bunch of lads. Today will have given them a massive boost of confidence going forward, and there are definitely some very good times ahead for this team.
Well done, boys – you made everyone proud!
