🦁🧡 Rushall Village Lions U10s 🧡🦁
Three games, plenty of football and a huge amount of effort from the lads today! ⚽
The boys had two games planned for today, but after finishing those, they were given the opportunity to play a third game when another team didn’t turn up — and every single one of them wanted to go again!
🆚 FC Premier vs Rushall Village
The lads got off to a fantastic start this morning with a really strong team performance.
There was some great passing, excellent movement and a brilliant work rate throughout the game.
Our goalkeeper once again showed his ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch, producing an excellent assist for Ha’shim, who finished brilliantly to give us the lead.
The lads continued to press really well, particularly through the middle of the pitch, and that pressure eventually forced a mistake from the opposition goalkeeper. The ball dropped to Dylan, who made no mistake and smashed it into the back of the net.
From there, the boys controlled the game well and saw it through to the final whistle with a really composed performance.
🏆 Managers’ Player of the Match – Dylan
A fantastic all-round performance from Dylan, capped off with a great finish. 👏⚽
🆚 Rushall Olympic vs Rushall Village
We knew this was going to be a very difficult game.
We had seen the results Rushall Olympic had been producing over the previous few weeks and knew they had previously been playing in a higher group.
The message to the boys was simple: go out, play football, give it your best and don’t worry about the result.
We initially set up slightly more defensively to try and deal with the opposition’s attacking threat, but they came at us strongly from the start.
We then returned to our normal formation and tried to get our football going, but Rushall Olympic continued to put us under pressure.
Despite that, the lads battled incredibly hard. They never stopped working, continued to try and play and gave 100% effort against a very well-organised and talented team.
There were plenty of lessons to take from the game, and the boys should be proud that they continued to compete right until the end.
🏆 Managers’ Player of the Match – Brodie
A really committed performance from Brodie, who worked hard throughout and never stopped battling for the team. 👏🦁
🆚 DP Elite Panthers vs Rushall Village
Just as we thought the football was finished for the day, the centre manager came over and asked if we’d be willing to play a third game as another team hadn’t turned up.
The answer from the lads?
Absolutely! 😂⚽
So off we went for an unexpected third game against DP Elite Panthers.
It was a friendly game to help out, but it turned into another brilliant experience for our boys.
We came up against a very, very good girls’ team, with many of their players being academy players and also a year older than our lads.
The boys didn’t let that faze them.
They got stuck in, played some really good football and made the most of the opportunity to get some additional game time. We were also able to rotate the boys into different positions, giving them another chance to develop their understanding of the game and experience playing outside of their usual roles.
It was a fantastic experience for the lads and another game they can learn from.
🏆 Managers’ Player of the Match – Rocco
A great performance from Rocco, who worked hard and showed plenty of determination throughout the game. 👏🦁
🧡 Final Thoughts
A massive well done to every single one of the lads today.
Three games in one day is a huge amount of football, and the fact that after two games they were still keen to go out and play another shows the attitude and enthusiasm within this group.
They never gave up, kept working for each other and took every opportunity to get on the pitch and improve.
There were plenty of positives, plenty of lessons and lots of football played today — exactly what these boys need as they continue to develop.
Now it’s onto the Trophy Event next week! 🏆⚽
Keep going, Lions! 🦁🧡
