Swifts U7s – Matchday Report ⭐
After what felt like forever, it was brilliant to finally be back playing games this morning after the Christmas break — and the boys couldn’t have returned in better style!
🆚 Game 1: vs Walsall Phoenix 🔴
Today was all about putting our training into practice, focusing on passing, movement, and working the ball up the pitch. The lads started brilliantly, producing more passes in the first five minutes than we sometimes manage in whole games 👏
Walsall Phoenix were a good side and created chances of their own, taking the lead early on. The rest of the first half was very competitive, with both teams playing some really good football. Chester grabbed a well-earned equaliser just before half-time to make it level.
The second half was even better. The ball moved quicker, the spacing improved, and chances came thick and fast. Naeto was unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions, but our dominance eventually paid off with two fantastic goals from Joey.
A great performance against a strong opponent — well deserved result and lots to be proud of!
Goals: Chester ⚽, Joey ⚽⚽
🆚 Game 2: vs Brownhills Colts 🔵
We picked up right where we left off. Excellent passing moves out wide, clever through balls, and constant forward runs caused problems straight away. One standout move saw Bligh switch the ball wide to Chester, who drove forward and played a perfectly weighted pass through for Joey to run onto and score his third goal of the morning.
More great movement followed, and Joey was brought down in the box after breaking through again – he calmly converted the penalty into the bottom corner.
Naeto worked tirelessly all over the pitch and was rewarded with two very well-deserved goals, while Reggie added another before half-time.
The second half was more of the same – brilliant team play mixed with moments of individual quality. A great run from Chester down the left saw him smash the ball across goal off the post, with Reggie reacting quickly to finish. Chester then wrapped things up with a deserved second goal of his own, adding to a morning full of assists too.
🏆 Player of the Match 🏆
With so many standout performances, it wasn’t an easy decision – but today’s award went to Naeto 🌟
Always strong in defence, today he showed real control and discipline, making it almost impossible for the opposition to get past him. On top of that, he drove forward tirelessly and was rewarded with his first two goals for the team – an outstanding all-round display!
Well done Swifts! Fantastic return after the break – great performances, brilliant teamwork, and clear progress. We’re definitely heading in the right direction!
