Game 1 vs Huntington Harriers
A really strong start – fantastic battling in midfield and very little for our keeper to do. As the lads settled into the new shape there were a few moments when positions drifted, but also some lovely passing and clever movement down the wings.
We created plenty of chances and were rewarded when Chester finished one off calmly. The second half followed the same pattern: lots of good football and huge effort all over the pitch, just missing that extra goal to put the game to bed. Right at the death, Huntington scored a brilliant free-kick into the top corner with practically the last kick of the game.
Unlucky not to take all the points, but the boys stuck to the plan superbly. Huge credit to them. π
Game 2 vs Walsall Wood Lions
You could see straight away that the team had learned from the first game β sharper passing, better movement off the ball and excellent use of the wings. A lovely team move ended with Harlen calmly putting the ball away.
We kept the pressure on, winning corners and throw-ins high up the pitch. From one quick throw-in Harlen smashed a shot that took a deflection on its way in for his second. At the back Naeto was immense all game, winning tackle after tackle. Late on Walsall Wood broke through and, although Naeto won the ball cleanly again, he was unlucky that it brushed his hand as he went to ground. A very harsh penalty was given and they pulled one back, but the boys held firm for a well-deserved victory. π
π Player of the Match:
Naeto Only one trophy available this week and it was an incredibly tough choice with so many big performances, but on his very first day playing competitive football Naeto showed absolutely no nerves. He made huge tackles in both games and was a rock at the back. An outstanding debut! π₯π‘οΈ
β Special Mention:
Reggie Also making his debut for the Swifts today, Reggie settled in straight away with great skill, clever runs and brilliant attitude. A fantastic first morning and plenty more to come! β‘οΈβ½οΈ
