Game 1 – vs Brownhills Community Jags
The boys came into the weekend full of confidence after a strong run in the tournament and it showed immediately. We set up with an attacking mindset and took the lead early when Adam powered past three players and smashed in a brilliant opening goal.
We conceded from a dangerous free-kick shortly after, but responded well and continued to look strong. Freddie came very close to scoring his first goal of the season just before half-time, showing great improvement every week.
The second half was end-to-end and full of excitement. The lads moved the ball brilliantly, tracked back with real effort (especially Rio), and kept pushing forward. Brownhills went ahead again, but the boys never let their heads drop.
Rio turned sharply in a crowded box from a clever low corner by Adam to pull one back, and moments later Adam levelled the game with a powerful strike. In a dramatic finish, we defended a barrage of corners with huge bravery and teamwork. The pressure forced a mistake from the opposition keeper, and Adam capped off an outstanding performance by completing his hat-trick with another clinical finish.
A fantastic comeback win and a brilliant team performance.
Game 2 – vs Sedgley & Gornal North
This was a much tighter and more controlled game, but again full of positives. We looked sharper defensively and played some lovely passing football throughout.
We went behind from a corner early on, but overall we were the better side and created several good chances. Oscar and Koby were excellent at the back, Freddie made some important saves in goal, Tommy played some intelligent forward passes, Dhillon showed great skill on the ball, Rio worked tirelessly, and Adam remained a constant threat.
Our pressure finally paid off when Rio burst forward from our own half, beating several players before setting up Adam, who reacted quickly to score a well-deserved equaliser.
A solid draw and another really encouraging performance from the whole squad.
Players of the Match
🏆 Parents Player – Adam A unanimous choice from the parents. Adam was outstanding in both games – full of energy, skill, and finishing. It’s been brilliant to see his progression and he always brings such a positive, caring attitude to the team. Keep it up Adam! 👏💪
🏆 Managers Player – Freddie A real captain’s performance. Freddie defended strongly, volunteered to go in goal when needed, and is getting closer and closer to that first goal. Excellent leadership and effort throughout the weekend. 👏👍
Final Thoughts 💭 A really enjoyable weekend of football for the U7s – a great win followed by a draw we probably deserved to win. We’re very proud of the progress every boy is making, both individually and as a team. Most importantly, the smiles on their faces show how much they’re loving their football right now.
Keep it up lads! 🟠⚫
