Under 7s Trophy Games
1st Game
Rushall Village vs Sedgley & Gornal Utd Sth
Looking to build on last week’s positive results, we started strongly. Everyone held their positions well, the teamwork was excellent, and we saw some really impressive dribbling. Our first big chance came when Koby carried the ball all the way from defence, beating every player in his path, only for his shot to hit the post. It would have been a brilliant goal and that set the tone for the match.
We continued to be the better side and kept the pressure on. Just before half-time, Rio picked up the ball and went on one of his trademark runs, finishing calmly past the keeper, low and hard to give us a deserved 1–0 lead.
The plan for the second half was to keep the momentum going, and the boys did exactly that. Dhillon looked dangerous, some excellent turns and direct play and almost doubled the lead, but once again the post denied us. As the game moved into the final minutes, the lads stayed focused and resilient. Their hard work was rewarded right at the end when Adam scored a brilliant goal, his first for Rushall, to secure the win.

2nd Game
Rushall Village vs Bentley Tigers
This was always going to be a tough test. Bentley were unbeaten and joint top of the table, so we knew we needed to stay calm, focused, and stick to our training.
We defended well early on, Freddie clearing danger under pressure, Oscar being brave and doing well in goal, and Tommy showing great skill to bring the ball forward. Bentley shown they can be dangerous and took the lead, but the boys didn’t panic or drop their heads. Instead, they grew into the game and created the better chances.
Rio made some strong dribbles forward but was fouled several times. Adam hit the post again, so close to his second of the day, and Freddie continued organising brilliantly at the back. All the hard work paid off when Rio scored the equaliser, a goal the whole team deserved.
For the second half, Koby came on and Tommy went in goal. Both were excellent. Koby blocked everything that came his way, and Tommy made two huge saves — one of them hit with real power — keeping us level. Those saves were as important as a goal. Oscar was getting himself all over the pitch and almost got onto the end of a pass that would have had him through on goal.
The game finished 1–1, and it genuinely could have gone either way. Our teamwork and refusal to give in earned us a brilliant draw.

Players of the Match
🏆 Parents’ Player of the Match: Koby
Outstanding today, especially in the first game. His dribbling, passing, defending, and overall confidence were top class. Very unlucky not to score after hitting the post, and the parents were unanimous, he fully deserved it.
🏆 Managers’ Player of the Match: Tommy
Showed great dribbling and accurate passing, worked tirelessly for the team, and then made match‑saving stops when he went in goal. A brilliant all‑round performance.
Final Thoughts
Another great pair of games, and we remain unbeaten in this trophy event so far, especially impressive given the strong teams we’ve faced. Considering how short a time this group has been together compared to others were facing, the improvement has been massive and the results are very impressive. We’re incredibly proud of the lads 👏
