Our U14’s have two weeks of friendlies booked in as we wait for some league games to catch up. We’ve ended up having the same team twice so it was good to have a run out today without pressure and just enjoy the game as it is.
Rushall Village U14s delivered a dominant and thoroughly convincing 4–1 home victory over Darlaston Town, showcasing maturity, composure and clinical finishing in a performance that sets a high benchmark for the season. They controlled the game from the opening whistle, building their win on sustained possession, territorial pressure and ruthless efficiency in front of goal. All four goals arrived in a clinical first-half display from 11 attempts, giving the side a commanding lead that was comfortably protected after the interval.
Deployed in a well-organised formation, Rushall enjoyed 62.1% possession and dictated play through the central channels, which served as the main hub for passes and touches. The team demonstrated excellent structure in build-up, exemplified by a neat 12-pass sequence inside the first minute and an even more impressive 15-pass move late in the half. Wide areas were used intelligently to stretch the opposition and gain entry into the attacking third. This dominance translated into 19 shots across the match, underlining the clear superiority in chance creation.
Defensively, Rushall were solid for the vast majority of the contest, restricting Darlaston to just two attempts all game. The visitors’ solitary goal came from a rare central penetration early on (notable chance around the 4th minute), highlighting a brief lapse in screening in front of the back four. That aside, the home rearguard stood firm, limiting opponents to minimal threat and allowing the midfield and attack to focus on extending the advantage.
Although the second half continued to see Rushall retain the ball and create opportunities, the clinical edge of the opening 45 minutes was missing, with no further goals added despite sustained pressure. This performance provides a strong platform: high levels of ball retention, clear patterns through midfield, purposeful use of the flanks and excellent chance generation.
An encouraging and professional display from the Rushall Village U14s – well done to the team!
