Rushall Village U12 3-3 Norton Canes U12
A great start from our team. Some fantastic attacking play which showed real intent. We went in 2-0 up at half time but could have been out of sight if it weren’t for some fantastic saves from their keeper. We created chance after chance.
We came out in the second half and got another goal to make it 3-0. At that point the opposition changed tact and overloaded our defence with attackers scoring 3 quick fire goals. We seemed to be a little bit complacent and in my opinion thought the job was done at 3-0. But some factors to work on further in training with positioning and defensive play.
We adjusted towards the end and were resilient enough to hold out for the draw under immense pressure from the opposition.
The team has stepped up two divisions along with all of the change that has happened and we went toe to toe with a decent team.
I am really proud particularly of the first half performance, then the resilience to bounce back from conceding 3 goals in quick succession to hold out for the draw.
Parents player went to Foden… he was really creative down the left hand side, their defender could not handle his pace or trickery. He chipped in with a fantastic goal and forced an own goal too with a difficult ball across the box to defend. Great effort, work rate and fully deserved the parents trophy.
Managers player went to Freddy. Due to an Absence we asked him to cover in defence to start the game and play outside of his usual defensive midfield role. He showed great team mentality and agreed without question. He absolutely excelled there. Some great tracking, tackling and covering for his team mates. So much so we felt obliged to leave him in that position all game. He did a fantastic job.
Really proud of them all. It was a hard fought point against a good side.
Onto next week!
