Rushall Village U10s – Cup Match Report
Rushall Village vs Bustleholme City
An unfortunate start to the last cup event of the season, with several players absent and others battling illness and injury on the pitch. The disruption made it difficult for the boys to gel and produce the passing sequences they are usually so capable of. The first half was a struggle, and confidence visibly dipped as a result.
The second half brought improvement, but some unfortunate refereeing decisions and disciplinary issues made it difficult to mount a comeback. That said, there were real highlights to take from the game. Some excellent attacking play from midfield produced two well-taken goals — Szymon got on the scoresheet, assisted by Charlie A, and Reece added another, also set up by Charlie A. Despite the effort, it wasn’t enough on the day.

A much-improved performance. Rushall found the aggression and intensity needed to make it a competitive match, and the boys were a far greater threat throughout. Better defensive recovery and sharper passing sequences made a real difference, and the team were rewarded with a well-earned draw. The standout moment came from an impressive goal by Charlie A, a fitting reward for his influence on the game.

Players of the Match
Parents’ Player of the Match – Szymon Some really solid work throughout the day. Szymon adapted well when asked to play in defence and performed excellently in that role. To top it off, he grabbed a thoroughly well-deserved goal — a moment that was a long time coming. Brilliant effort, Szymon.
Managers’ Player of the Match – Charlie A Chosen for his critical playmaking, skill, and relentless effort — all while not feeling his best. Charlie drove the team forward all day and contributed directly to goals in both matches. A real team player and a deserving winner.
Final Thoughts
It was a tough day in difficult circumstances, but the character shown — particularly in the second game — was encouraging. The boys dug in, responded, and showed what they are capable of when the belief is there. With the season drawing to a close, there is plenty to be proud of and plenty to build on.
Well done to every player who gave their all today.
