Rushall Village FC Swifts U7s Match Report
Weekend Mini Soccer Action – Bright Play, Teamwork & Big Positives!
Another fantastic morning for our Swifts U7s in the Walsall Junior Youth League mini soccer setup — full of energy, clever football, hard work, and lots of smiles! The boys showed real quality in possession, created plenty of exciting chances, defended bravely, and demonstrated great maturity and attitude throughout. At this age, it’s all about enjoying the game, trying new things, supporting each other, and getting better every week — and the Swifts ticked every box!
Game 1 – Vs Bentley Cobras
We started brightly and dominated most of the play, enjoying lots of possession and creating the majority of the opportunities. Our high pressing and quick movement paid off when Joey finished off a brilliant team goal — great build-up and composure! There was a small moment of lost concentration that led to a free-kick opportunity for the Cobras, but the lads bounced back strongly. Chester grabbed a well-deserved goal just before half-time with a smart finish, capping off a strong first half of attacking football.
The second half was a proper contest — we kept pushing forward and doing most of the attacking, but Bentley had some very solid defenders who made it tough to add more. The boys showed excellent maturity: stuck to the game plan, worked tirelessly for one another, stayed organised, and ground out a positive result through sheer effort and togetherness. Real character on display!
Game 2 – Vs Samba Soccer
With cold and wet conditions making it tricky, we used rolling substitutions to keep everyone warm, involved, and fresh — ensuring no one stood around too long (a great mindset for mini soccer!). We might have rotated a touch too frequently at times, which disrupted our flow a little, but the lads stayed dominant from start to finish: controlling the game, creating chance after chance, and showing confidence on the ball.
The first half saw us in charge but unable to find the target despite all the good work. In the second half, Chester finally broke through with a well-earned goal — a moment of quality that opened things up. From there, the defence was rock-solid: composed, brave, and excellent at playing out from the back. We looked in control throughout, never really troubled, and on another day could have created even more magic moments. A really controlled, confident performance to finish the morning strongly!
Player Awards Manager’s Player: Joey
Another outstanding all-round display — constantly causing problems for defenders with his movement, skill, and energy. Added a great goal to his growing tally and led by example with his positivity and work rate. Brilliant stuff, Joey — keep shining! 🌟⚽
Parents’ Player: Bligh
Super composed and reliable in defence — mopping up danger, making key interventions, and distributing the ball quickly and accurately to get us attacking again. Showed real calmness and quality under pressure. The parents were raving about you, Bligh — well deserved! 👏⚽
Final Thoughts
A hugely positive morning for the Swifts — excellent effort, attitude, teamwork, and plenty of exciting football on show. We love seeing the boys stay involved with smart rotations in tough weather, though we’ll tweak the balance in training to help maintain rhythm and create even more chances going forward. The progress, enjoyment, and spirit are what make coaching this group so rewarding!
Well done to every single Swift — you represented Rushall Village FC brilliantly once again.
Huge pride from the coaches and parents. Let’s keep building, having fun, and getting better together! 🧡⚽
