Rushall Village Swifts U7s – Trophy Event Week 1 Match Report
Rushall Village Swifts vs DMC Monaco
A strong start to the third and final trophy event of the season, with the lads showing great energy and teamwork from the first whistle. We began the game quickly, playing out from the back with confidence and using both wings really well.
The opening goal came from the left, with Chester finishing well after some good attacking play. The pressure continued and we were soon awarded a penalty for handball. Naeto stepped up and, although his initial effort was well saved, he reacted quickest to slot in the rebound.
We kept pushing forward and Chester continued to cause constant problems down the left, adding his second to extend the lead. Just before half-time, DMC pulled one back against the run of play, but we remained firmly in control at the break.
The second half saw us take our foot off the pedal slightly, but the team stayed organised, controlled the game well, and never really looked like conceding. A very solid performance and a deserved win.
Goals: Chester (2), Naeto
Rushall Village Swifts vs Barnhurst Lions Nth
A very tight game from start to finish. The Swifts played some lovely football in spells, especially down the wings, but came up against a strong defence and just couldn’t quite find the final ball. The first half ended goalless.
The second half followed a similar pattern until the deadlock was broken in unfortunate fashion. A shot directly from a kick-in took a touch from our keeper, meaning the goal stood despite the circumstances.
The response was excellent. The boys kept pushing and were soon rewarded when Harlen turned on the right and smashed a powerful shot high into the net, giving the keeper no chance. A fair result in the end after a hard-fought and competitive game.
Goal: Harlen
Players of the Match
Managers’ Player of the Match – Bligh Stuck to his role brilliantly throughout the day, read the game really well, and played some fantastic passes down the wings to start attacks. A composed and intelligent performance.
Parents’ Player of the Match – Chester A solid all-round display with a constant threat down the left and two very well-taken goals. A deserving winner after an impressive morning’s work.
Final Thoughts
Four points from two games is a great return and another week like that will put the Swifts in a strong position heading into the knockout stages. Most importantly, the lads are clearly enjoying their football and the team spirit is brilliant. Well done to every player who gave their all today — a great morning all round.
