Rushall Village vs Walsall Phoenix Tigers
This was a tough test against a top-of-the-league Walsall Phoenix Tigers side, known for their strong organization and attacking threat. The boys put together some impressive attacking moves and created several promising opportunities, demonstrating good passing, movement, and bravery going forward. Defensively, however, we faced challenges with positioning and recovery, which allowed the opposition to capitalize. In the second half, the team adapted positively to a tactical adjustment, pushing higher and linking play more effectively. Charlie A produced a standout moment with a beautifully worked goal, showing great composure and teamwork to finish off a flowing move. While the result didn’t go our way, there was plenty of encouraging football on show, and the lads can take heart from their effort and creativity against such quality opposition.

Coming into the second game, the boys started a bit flat, with energy levels dropping and some basics—like tracking back, closing down, and maintaining shape—being overlooked, which put us under early pressure. A positive and constructive half-time team talk refocused everyone, and the response was excellent. Rushall dug deep, rediscovered their drive, and delivered a much stronger performance in the second period, dominating play and creating chances through better pressing and support. Charlie A and Asher both contributed brilliantly in attack, linking up well and showing sharp finishing instincts. The turnaround highlighted the squad’s character and ability to bounce back—great to see the lads finish strongly and come away with a deserved positive outcome.
