⭐ Swifts U7s – Matchday Report ⭐
Another really encouraging morning on the pitch! The lads showed clear progress in how they’re playing the game — more confidence on the ball, better understanding of positions, and sticking to the principles we’ve been working on in training. 👏⚽️
🆚 Game 1: vs Tekkerz Academy 🔴⚫
Tekkerz were a strong, physical side with lots of pace and power, making it a really competitive and hard-fought match from the start. In the first half, we had to defend well under pressure, and our back line stayed solid and organised. Bligh made a fantastic diving save to help keep things tight — great concentration from him!
As the game went on, we grew into it more and more. We started pushing higher up the pitch with some lovely movement off the ball and some really impressive spells of passing between the boys. We created several good opportunities and looked dangerous when we moved the ball quickly.
The second half was just as even, with both teams battling hard. The lads stayed disciplined and kept applying what we’ve practised — patient build-up, supporting each other, and working as a unit. A highlight was some excellent team play leading up to a corner: quick passing, good movement, and then Bligh delivered a brilliant, whipped ball right under the crossbar for Joey to finish calmly and deservedly get on the scoresheet. ⚽️
The opposition coach was kind enough to come over afterwards and praise the boys for playing proper, attractive football — exactly the style we’re encouraging. Everyone was buzzing with how well they stuck to the plan and showed real character throughout.
Goal scorer: Joey ⚽️
🆚 Game 2: vs Burnwood Dragons 🔵🟡
This was another evenly matched and enjoyable game, but we looked much sharper at holding our positions and linking play through midfield with good passing and clever movement.
We fell behind early in the first half to a really well-struck shot that gave the keeper no chance, but the boys stayed calm and composed. They kept their shape, continued moving the ball nicely, and didn’t let it affect them. That patience paid off when Chester found space to get us back on level terms before the break — a cool finish after great work from the team.
The second half was a brilliant game to watch for anyone who loves football: both sides showed great attitude, tried to play on the ground, and created chances at both ends. Reggie pulled off a superb save, then showed incredible bravery by diving onto a loose ball as an attacker came sliding in — top-class goalkeeping and real courage under pressure! 🧤👏
We kept the pressure on throughout, creating chance after chance with some lovely passages of play. Their keeper made several good stops, but Chester stayed sharp and grabbed what proved to be the decisive goal with another composed finish. He was unlucky not to add another — a thunderous volley from around 20 yards smashed off the crossbar after a fantastic team move. It would have capped off an outstanding all-round display from him.
Player Highlights:
Chester was everywhere — excellent decision-making in midfield, strong link-up play with teammates, and clinical in front of goal. One of his best performances so far!
Joey was tireless on the wing — bombing forward, tracking back defensively with real effort, and delivering a well-earned goal. Non-stop energy and commitment.
🏆 Player Awards 🏆
Parents’ Player of the Match: Chester 🌟 Outstanding in every department — decision-making, passing, movement, and finishing. A real leader out there today.
Manager’s Player of the Match: Joey 💛 Relentless work rate on both sides of the ball, always willing to help teammates, and topped it with a great goal. Brilliant attitude.
👏 Final Thoughts
We’ve been really clear with the boys that performances, effort, and applying what w
e work on in training are what matter most — and today’s games showed exactly that. The first match was a perfect example of staying positive and playing our way despite challenges, while the second built on that with even better shape and composure.
A huge team effort all round — the progress in their understanding of the game, teamwork, and enjoyment is clear to see. Well done, Swifts — keep it up! ⚽️💛
