Although progress on our new ground may not be immediately visible, a great deal of work has been happening behind the scenes. When we reached out to various suppliers specializing in containers and cabins, we were incredibly fortunate to receive a response from the wonderful team at HireThis.com. They informed us that they had possibly located a cabin that the owners were willing to donate, an opportunity that could significantly support our project.
Entrusting the entire process to HireThis.com, they took the initiative to liaise directly with the owners, William Gough & Sons. After discussions, they successfully arranged for the cabin to be delivered to our site—completely free of charge! Not only did we acquire the cabin at no expense, but the delivery costs were also fully covered, ensuring that we did not have to spend a single penny.
However, after securing the cabin, we encountered a major logistical challenge. The driveway leading to our grounds is quite narrow, making it impossible for a truck carrying a large cabin to maneuver its way through. Just when we were beginning to worry about how we would manage this obstacle, Abbey Primary School kindly stepped in to assist, providing us with access to their property to facilitate a smoother approach. Despite this much-needed support, we still faced the issue of reaching our ground, as the access alone wasn’t sufficient to ensure the cabin’s final placement.
That’s when the incredible team at ABA Cranes came to our rescue. In a remarkable act of generosity, they deployed a 100-tonne crane, expertly setting up the equipment and lifting the cabin into position. This operation required taking the crane out of service for several hours and the dedicated efforts of two skilled workers—yet they provided this invaluable service entirely free of charge. Their willingness to assist without any financial expectation was truly humbling and speaks volumes about their commitment to supporting local initiatives.
Often, when we think of community projects, we overlook the individuals and businesses that contribute their time, resources, and expertise at no cost. Many of them even incur financial losses by doing so, making their generosity even more commendable. Therefore, I want to personally express my deepest gratitude to everyone who played a role in today’s efforts. Although this may seem like the simple addition of just one cabin, it has saved us an estimated £4,000 to £5,000—if not more—allowing us to allocate those funds toward further developments.
This remarkable show of support is a testament to the kindness, generosity, and solidarity within our community, and we couldn’t be more appreciative.
